OUR STORY
Why we started with space.
KORA TechLabs was founded by Dr. Jennifer Fogarty and Sara Sabry. Jennifer spent twenty years at NASA as Chief Scientist of the Human Research Program, defining what keeps a body alive and working in space. Sara went to space herself — the first Egyptian astronaut and the first Arab and African woman to fly — and is a mechanical and biomedical engineer finishing a PhD in aerospace and spacesuit engineering. We started with astronauts because that is where the problem is hardest and the science is deepest. Then we noticed that a miner or a rig worker is in the same position: remote, extreme, and far from help. The physiology does not know the difference, so the system should not either.
WHERE IT CAME FROM
It started with autonomy in Robotic Surgey
The thinking behind KORA Sentinel started with our founder’s earlier work on autonomy in robotic surgery — systems where a machine’s decision has to be auditable because a life depends on it. The same principle runs through everything we build: every flag KORA Sentinel raises comes with the reason behind it, so a supervisor can act on it and a flight surgeon or regulator can check it.
